Anniversary of my father's passing
Jan. 1st, 2026 11:03 amI just realized it's been 5 years since my father died.
I was sitting here thinking, hmm, feels like something significant happened... not sure what it is...
It was that.

Date: 2026-01-01 04:13 pm (UTC)I was talking to a certain medical professional about my father's manifestation of Alzheimer's vs. my mother's. I think a lot of it had to do with how men and women are socialized differently (in addition to individual temperament).
I'm a very angry person inside, but I suspect that I'll end up being soft like my mother when it's my turn. Because I'm used to presenting as soft.

Date: 2026-01-02 02:45 am (UTC)I'm sorry.
A lot of people are in a similar boat. The older we get, the more company we have. Just one more reason why I refuse to be pressured into being jolly for the holidays. So many of us need the extra space.

I love the pageantry of the dragon-dancers at Chinese New Year.

Understandable. I'm often amused by people's attempts to replicate Christmas by decorating palm trees.
You might like AntsCanada. He started out in Canada but now lives in a tropical country. He keeps several massive viviaria with ants, plants, and other creatures. And he simulated a typhoon in one, that was fun to watch.
