Alien Romance, the daily comic strip

Ren sits on his bed, talking to the cat. "Am I doing this right, Foomie? I have to save everyone or else I won't be a good surgeon. The consequences will be dire. The tearing of the fabric of the universe. Animals sense things humans can't, right? Can you sense tis? Why do you fight me?"
He leans over the side of the bed to look at Foomie, who is wedged deep underneath, amongst the clutter and boxes.
It's not a word for word transcription because I can't see the image while I'm typing, and the typos are from not being able to see the screen well in general.
I'm kind of fast-forwarding the cat's post-surgical care. Some cats don't need a lot of care! Cones of shame weren't as ubiquitous back then. Often you let the animal go around without accessories unless it actively started picking at its wounds. I still take that approach after spay/neuter with my foster cats. Or when Melody got surgery on the tumor on her neck. In Melody's case, I ended up wrapping a strip of cloth around her neck like a scarf, because she couldn't tolerate the cone, and Typhoon played rough and was more of a danger to her wound than Mel was herself.
