This coincides with one of tesariel 's prompts, "Outsider." The whole story arc does, really.

Cathy and Ella get into Ella's white Rabbit, which is NOT named "Alice."

This is not a direct translation, but Cathy is essentially saying, about Ella's stepmother, "She's trying, and I appreciate that. I don't understand very much of what's going on, and it gets lonely."

Ella is starting to empathize with Cathy a little bit, and is still a little mad about being left out, but she starts to soften. "Wait. Are you saying we don't understand each other?"

Cathy lights up. "Yes! We don't understand each other."

Sometimes echolalia is a good tool for language learning, if you roughly understand what's being said.
